Niu Generation - Leadership training with Whānau/Aiga engagement - 11-12 Years

In stage 1 of the programme – NIU Generation, Fathers are encouraged to attend with their children. We believe it is important to nurture Aiga/Whānau relationships now for a positive transition into high-school and adulthood, and studies show that children can achieve more if parents are involved. Our programme is delivered through a Pacific lens to help our student leaders navigate learning.

This programme includes:

  • Pasifika leadership training

  • Aiga/Whānau engagement

  • Collaboration across schools

  • Health and exercise

  • Ata-mai holiday programme participation

  • Family events participation

  • Leadership graduation

  • Culturally responsive

What people are saying

It’s nice to know that there are people like you who are willing to try for our kids and as parent’s we should support this. I’m grateful for this programme because it’s made me see what I’ve been missing out on with my daughter. I now realise how important it is to set time aside for my kids, I love it!

Ata Mai - Leadership training with Whānau/Aiga engagement - 10-14 Years

Ata-mai means to capture the essence of something. When we break it down, ‘Ata’ means to smile and ‘mai’ refers to the person being smiled at. That’s why the experiences we create within our holiday programme will do exactly that, offering a moment for our children to catch something valuable, to experience laughter and happiness and to learn lifelong skills in a supportive, fun environment.

We’ll do that by introducing six influences of change:

A – Aiga (family)
T – Taaloga (sports)
A – Atunuu (culture)
M – Malamalama (mental/emotional)
A – Ao’aoga (education)
I – I am, faasinomaga (identity)

What people are saying

Something valuable I learnt was that in order to lead I have to serve others. The programme felt safe - we made each other feel safe and welcomed.

In the leadership training we learnt that during our time serving with others - leadership can be created throughout the process. We need to humble ourselves just as Jesus did with his disciples.
