Encouraging & empowering our young people to cultivate change in our community.

“With a passion for what we do and the knowledge and skills to make a difference, we're on a mission to help Hawkes Bay youth and their families.”

With a combined 20-plus years of experience in health, fitness and education, our WOWbeing mentors use their knowledge of physical activity to connect and engage both Māori and Pasifika student leaders and their Aiga/Whānau.

It’s a mentoring journey that begins by instilling the values of culture, faith and family to year 8 students (12-13 years) and continues throughout secondary school and beyond until they are young adults (24 years). At the heart of this initiative is the belief that by guiding and encouraging our young people to live life to their full potential, we will empower a new generation of role models and cultivate change in our community.

What People Are Saying

I learnt at the Ata Mai Leaders Training Programme how to communicate with the kids - using effective questioning & being an active listener.”

It’s really fun, the leaders took good care of us. They’re great role models, and they created a comfortable & safe space where we could share whatever we wanted
